Medical Illustrations

For Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital I was tasked to create medical illustrations of particular hearts issues and procedures. These illustrations are used to inform children patients on the general look and actions of heart during these situations. To develop these illustrations I worked with a doctor that advised how each heart should look. I also referenced various medical books to check the accuracy of these. The graphic style intent for these illustrations is to show an approachable look of the heart to help children understand what is going on. Another important goal is showing accurate depiction of the given situation. Color and arrow elements were used in the design to indicate the in/out flow of oxygenized blood as well as direction.
