HMH Wall Murals

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) is a publishing company out of Boston that publishes textbooks, instructional technology materials, assessments, reference works, and fiction and non-fiction for both young readers and adults. Motiv was tasked to create signage and wall murals for 5 floors of this downtown Boston office. My main contribution to this project was to creating murals for the lunch room area of the office. The concept was to leverage the idea that a lunchroom is the primary common ground and equalizer of the office where everyone from the interns to the CEOs come together to share the space. To visually communicate this idea I thought to leverage all the iconic characters from HMH published books and show them all coming together. These characters from Curious George to Gandolf, Mary Poppins to Carmen SanDiego, Paul Revere to Gossie, which all represent the different people that make up the company.
